I'm worried by some of the common rhetoric opposing a lot of the current administration's moves:

* Innocuous or reasonable actions are being called evil because of who's doing them.

* Dialogues around bad actions are very focused around the actors, rather than the actions and implications.

As similar bad actions were ignored under previous, more popular, administrations, perhaps the Overton window re: personal freedom isn't moving and it's just more tribalism.

@BradyDale Any ideas re: overcoming that? It's becoming tiresome, when not downright scary.

@BradyDale @HedgeMage Point out logical inconsistencies? Not working too well for me in Liberal Haven land, but it's either that or ignore it. The problem is that everyone is approaching it with feelings still and you really can't pull feelings away from tribalism.

@cunningcorvid @BradyDale I've learned, unfortunately, that a lot of people are more comfortable living with cognitive dissonance than I am. :disappointed:

@BradyDale @HedgeMage With you there. Haven't found a method that works to get through. Think it just boils down to being ready when they finally realize something doesn't add up. And being compassionate through the process of understanding. :/

@cunningcorvid @BradyDale Compassion is a big, BIG thing. Even the people who share my political ideals too often succumb to being angry with the other side, and choosing to express their ire rather than understanding the opposition.

It sure makes it hard to change minds when you approach them as the enemy.
