Je commence par une nouvelle réjouissante. Les #trains de nuit font leur retour en Belgique après 16 ans d'absence.

Pour concurrencer les avions low cost, c'est une super nouvelle. C'était quand même bien absurde de les supprimer.

Re: actix-web maintainership crisis

I have two simple mantras which establish my philosophy here:

1. YOU are responsible for your dependencies.

2. Open source participants are volunteers and owe you nothing.

It was never Nikolay's job to vet actix-web for you, nor did it become his job when the library became popular, nor does invoking "security" change anything in the slightest. Your dependencies are your responsibility. Responding with vitrol, anger, or hate when failing to uphold this responsibility bites you in the ass is just being a jerk.

User entitlement is totally unjustified and will burn out maintainers faster than almost anything else. I don't stand for it. If any other maintainers out there are struggling with this, please send me an email: I'm sympathetic to your cause and I can likely lend some pertinent advice.

Running alpine + sway 👌

We'll see how much I like alpine as a daily

I tried getting sway to work in Virtual Box for hours and it just didn't want to start with non-obvious errors. Now I installed it on a desktop and poof, everything is fine...

@bortzmeyer si à 50 ans, Microsoft n'a pas blacklisté à tort ton serveur de mail, tu as raté ta vie de postmaster

I'm pretty sure I now have the hardware to self-host most if not all of my services and the services of @naido 🤔

Je suis super content de Alpine. C'est facile à setup, très léger et s'utilise aussi bien en desktop qu'en serveur! Je vais devoir m'habituer un peu plus mais je pense que je peux passer dessus en tant que daily

In 1998, a programmer who had been working on Y2K fixes started to get anxious because he couldn't believe how pervasive the problem was. He switched from company to company trying to get away from it, but everywhere he went he became regarded as the Y2K expert and immediately became the team lead for that company's Y2K contingencies. He finally had a nervous breakdown, quit his job, and decided he wanted to be knocked unconscious when the Y2K actually came about.

A month before Y2K he was put into an artificial coma and cooled down to a near cryogenic easily sustained long term life support.

Unfortunately the life support notification system had a Y2K bug, and no one revived him for 8000 years.

Finally he was found and revived. He woke up, and saw himself surrounded by lots of glass, light, stainless steel, and tall beautiful people in white robes. He asked if he was in Heaven.

They replied, "No, this is Chicago. Actually but it's a lot like Heaven to someone like you."

"Someone like me?"

"You are from the 20th century. Many of the problems that existed in your lifetime have been solved for thousands of years. There is no hunger and no disease. There is no scarcity, or strife between races and creeds."

"What year is it now?"

"Yeah, about that - it's the year 9,998. You see, the year 10,000 is coming up, and we understand you know something called COBOL?"

Terminé l'histoire principale de SuperTuxKart 😄

Petite mise à jour de mon site, entièrement statique:

Adding a "mandatory quote of something you like in every source file" contribution requirement

Bon, j'aimerais bien commencer à réfléchir à un cours d'éthique pour les futures développeuses et développeur. Me semble que ça existe en médecine. Quelqu'un a des échos de comment ça s'y passe ?

#éthique #cours

Let's be honest, SuperTuxKart: 20/20, love that game
