Maybe I'm still just a small fool.
Adolescent Holic was misanthropic. Then, for the past several years, I lightened up and saw the brighter side of both individuals and our species as a whole.
But that misanthropy is coming back. My interactions with others have been mostly so awful for the most recent couple years.
I'm aware of potential, and of better qualities. But they seem overshadowed.
Somehow, this ties into a better transhuman future. But there's not enough characters to explain, even now.
Unlike its better known cousin H. sapiens, the domesticated species H. esculentus has a dramatically enhanced sense of taste and a congenital absence of pain perception and survival instinct. Breeders raise them in pampered bands like the finest Japanese beef, and carefully train them for the climax of their lives.
Each year, they compete to be chosen, and a lucky few are allowed to carve and cook themselves for delighted and distinguished diners.
@junglestrike "The Fediverse was our last, best hope for peace - it failed, but in the year of the OStatus War, it become something different..."
@junglestrike oh noes I made another typo - expect a drop-in explanation of how it means Ayn Rand has polluted my soul and not that it's 5:30 AM and I'm on a long hacking run
"Konishi polis itself was buried two hundred meters beneath the Siberian tundra, but via fiber and satellite links the input channels could bring in data from any forum in the Coalition of Polises, from probes orbiting every planet and moon in the solar system, from drones wandering the forests and oceans of Earth, from ten million kinds of scape or abstract sensorium. The first problem of perception was learning how to choose from this superabundance."
(I'm cheating with these ones)
